Career Wardrobe Milestones and Timeline

Working Wardrobe opened its doors to pass donated suits onto women just starting their journeys in the workforce. In the first year, volunteers provided 938 women with business suits for job interviews or employment.

Co-founded The Women’s Alliance, a national network of sister organizations to share best practices.

Satellite office opens in West Chester and over six years, West Chester site provides clothing to 3,300 women transitioning to work in Chester and Delaware Counties.

Working Wardrobe hires its first Executive Director, Sheri K. Cole, who is honored as one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s Forty Under Forty for the organization’s impact on the lives of women in Philadelphia.

Inaugural A Perfect Fit fashion show and auction held at Saks Fifth Avenue to announce name change to Career Wardrobe.   150 supporters attended fashion show which brought together anchor women from all Philadelphia media outlets to empower women to succeed.

Launched Gateway to Success personal and professional education seminars to help women maintain employment by focusing on job search, communication and financial literacy skills.

Career Wardrobe celebrated its 10th Anniversary with Story of a Suit exhibit honoring 10 women who exemplify the Career Wardrobe's mission to empower women.

Viv Pickle Custom Handbags constructed the World's Largest Handbag at 30th Street Station to celebrate the organization’s 10th Anniversary and collect accessories to support women transitioning to work.

Professional Women's Network created to provide additional support system for women during job search and employment. Job Search Skills component added to Gateway to Success education seminars to provide one-on-one resume review and job search consultation.

Career Wardrobe named champion in action by Citizens Bank for outstanding contribution to workforce development for women in Philadelphia region.

PA WORKWEAR partnership with PA Department of Public Welfare opens access to services to women receiving all types of public assistance. In addition to professional clothing for interviews and work, Career Wardrobe begins providing training attire and uniforms.

The Wardrobe Boutique resale store at 19th and Spring Garden Streets is opened to provide all women access to quality clothing at affordable prices while also helping organization achieve self-sufficiency.

Generation Stiletto created to nurture the next generation of volunteers and leaders for Career Wardrobe.

Organization celebrates its Sweet 16 with a Tea Party at the Rittenhouse hotel. 70,000th client served.
Style Me Hired Makeover Show provides 100 women with makeovers, professional attire and job search training in one day.

Story of a Suit: Portraits of Progress tells the stories of six women, who have been helped by The Career Wardrobe and, in turn, used their new skills and economic independence to improve their lives, provide for their families and have a positive impact in their community.

Career Wardrobe provides a professional outfit to the 75,000th woman to use its services.
